Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit
EXEDY Stage 1 Organic Racing Clutches are best suited for mildly upgraded street vehicles looking for an increase in torque holding capacity over OEM while maintaining smooth engagements. These Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kits use only premium friction materials that are resistant to slippage and burst. Increased clamp loads give the necessary capacity to handle modified engines. Drivability is similar to the stock clutch. Pedal efforts will be slightly higher because of the higher clamp loads. All Stage 1 clutch discs have spring center dampers to reduce drivetrain shock and provide smooth clutch engagement.

Each Stage 1 kit includes a Ultra-Fiber Organic Disc. This advanced facing material provides the high heat resistance essential for motorsports. It was developed by reviewing both the copper wire ratio and the composition of the high strength fiber. The Ultra Fiber Disc maintains the superior half-engagement feeling specific to the Organic material. With improved high heat resistance, it provides the functionality essential for street performance and mild racing applications.

Stage 1 Features & Benefits:
  • Clutch Cover has clamp load 40% higher than OEM, allowing for higher torque transmitting capacity
  • Features Ultra Fiber disc that maintains superior half-engagement feel specific to organic material
  • Cover and pressure plate are made of ductile material for high burst strength at all temperature ranges
  • Facing material provides high heat resistance essential for motorsports
  • Clutch Disc has high strength copper weave fibers
  • Drivability is similar to OEM clutch

All EXEDY Stage 1 Organic, Stage 2 Ceremetallic and Lightweight Flywheels carry SFI 1.1 Certification. This means when you buy these products, you can be confident they are certified for use in competitive motorsports.

Organic vs. Kevlar vs. Ceramic Friction Disc - What Is The Difference?

The Friction Disc is a vital part of any clutch. It connects the pressure plate and flywheel, and is responsible for transferring engine power to the rest of the vehicle. Clutch Kits come with several different types of friction discs, and it is important to understand the pros and cons of each material:

Tips & Tools For The Job
  • Wear a Dust Mask to protect against hazardous clutch dust. You can also spray the clutch with water prior to removal to reduce the amount of airborne dust during disassembly.
  • Use a Flywheel Turner to hold the flywheel in place while removing and reinstalling the pressure plate bolts.
  • Apply Blue Threadlocker to flywheel bolts prior to installation to prevent backing out due to the high vibrations flywheels are subject to.
  • Use the provided lubricant to lightly lubricate the splines of the input shaft. Over lubricating the input shaft risks lubricant transfer to the clutch friction disc and can cause clutch slippage.
  • Be sure to install the new clutch friction disc in the correct direction. The disc will have a "Flywheel Side" label on one side.
